The short answer

Forever keeps every race and class pairing Classic had and adds six: Undead Paladins, Orc Mages and Troll Warlocks for the Horde, and Human Hunters, Gnome Priests and Dwarf Shamans for the Alliance. The new Skyborne play on both sides, and the side they choose decides two of their classes. Blizzard published the complete chart on 22 September, one table per faction, and the two charts below follow it cell for cell.

The six new combinations

Blizzard’s Deep Dive recap named the six first, and the chart confirms them.

  • Undead Paladins are the Horde’s only Paladins. Their journey starts at Bandarion Keep in Tirisfal Glades, where other Forsaken distrust them, and at level 60 they ride their charger in the name of Retribution.
  • Orc Mages join Trolls and Undead as the Horde’s Mages. The Orc racial Blood Fury now raises Spell Power as well as Attack Power, by 10 percent for 15 seconds.
  • Troll Warlocks join Orcs and Undead as the Horde’s Warlocks. Berserking speeds up casting as well as attacks, by 10 percent for 10 seconds.
  • Human Hunters join Dwarves, Night Elves and the High Order Skyborne as the Alliance’s Hunters.
  • Gnome Priests join Humans, Dwarves and Night Elves as the Alliance’s Priests. The Gnome racial Expansive Mind raises maximum Mana by 5 percent.
  • Dwarf Shamans are the Alliance’s only Shamans, and the Battle.net Shop names them among Forever’s new options with the Forsaken Paladin.

The Skyborne

The Skyborne choose a side at character creation. As Windshapers they join the Horde and can be Shamans; as the High Order they join the Alliance and can be Mages. On either side they can be Warriors, Hunters, Rogues and Druids, and their druids have forms made for the race. Our Skyborne Elves guide covers their story, racials and starting zone.

Blizzard says more combinations are planned for future updates and has not named them. When it does, they go into the class data behind these charts, the class guides and the class picker at the same time.

Choosing your class

Each class guide lists the races that can play it and what Blizzard has said about the class: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock and Druid. The class picker filters all nine by faction, role, style and race.

Frequently asked

Can Undead be Paladins in World of Warcraft: Forever?
Yes. Undead Paladin is one of Forever's six new race and class combinations, and the Undead are the Horde's only Paladins. Their story starts at Bandarion Keep in Tirisfal Glades.
Can Humans be Hunters?
Yes, Human Hunter is new in Forever. Humans can also be Warriors, Paladins, Rogues, Priests, Mages and Warlocks.
Which races can be Shamans?
For the Horde, Orcs, Tauren, Trolls and Windshaper Skyborne. For the Alliance, Dwarves, which is new in Forever.
Which races can be Druids?
Night Elves and Tauren, as in Classic, and the Skyborne on either side, with druid forms made for the race.
What classes can the Skyborne play?
Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid on either side, plus Shaman as a Windshaper on the Horde or Mage as a High Order Skyborne on the Alliance.
Will Forever add more race and class combinations?
Blizzard says more combinations are planned for future updates and has not named them yet.
