Every count is an estimate (emulator rule), rounded up: how the counts are made. Unlucky is the count nine runs in ten stay within. A reagent another recipe crafts is counted as what it is made from, and an item the route keeps for a later recipe is counted once.
Before you start
Stones first. Every ore tier has its stones, and a sharpening stone takes one stone and nothing else. Our copper, tin and iron veins gave their stone alongside the ore. That makes stones the cheapest points in each tier: on this route they carry 90 of the 299 points. Bars and gear fill the stretches between stone tiers.
What Forever moved. From the Coarse tier on, most stone recipes come about 25 skill earlier than in Classic. Forever’s trainer teaches Heavy Grinding Stone at 100.
Plans no trainer teaches. A few cards use a plan sold by a vendor, dropped, or given by a quest; the card says which. Where the plan takes more than gold, “Don’t have the plan?” under the card gives the same skill range by recipes you can learn with gold alone. Some of the recipes meant to drop at random in dungeons became available in the October 1 beta build.
Campsite objects. Each profession has three campsite objects, learned at different skill levels; a blacksmith’s Sharpening Wheel raises Attack Power. Forever’s files list the Sharpening Wheel from skill 1, the Anvil from 140 and the Master Forge at 300, the last two taught by Blueprints.
Working Overtime. Legacy’s Working Overtime perk raises the chance of a skill point in every tradeskill. Blizzard has not given its numbers, so our counts leave it out; with it you need fewer crafts.
Specialization. The route assumes none: Forever has not confirmed Armorsmith or Weaponsmith.
Above 225. The beta caps characters at level 30 , and Artisan training needs level 35 , so nothing past 225 has been checked in play. Those brackets come from Forever’s client files, and they keep every recipe source: Dense Sharpening Stone (trainer), Radiant Belt (a dropped plan), Imperial Plate Bracers (a quest reward), Girdle of the Dawn (a plan sold for gold), Radiant Leggings (a dropped plan). A card whose plan takes more than gold, or whose reagent only drops, shows its gold-only fallback under it. In the 1.12 vendor lists, the Argent Dawn’s quartermasters sell the Girdle of the Dawn’s plan: Argent Quartermaster Hasana and Argent Quartermaster Lightspark in Western Plaguelands, and Quartermaster Miranda Breechlock in Eastern Plaguelands. Forever’s files say the plan needs Honored with the Argent Dawn. We will recheck this stretch when the beta allows it.

How the counts are made
In the open emulator, a craft always raises the skill while the recipe is orange, three times in four while yellow, once in four while green, never once grey. Our counts use the emulator's steps. We have not yet measured Forever's chances, so every count is an estimate. “Unlucky” is the count nine players in ten finish within.
Reagents are costed in raw materials, by our own rule: one gathered unit is 1, a dropped one 3, a vendor item 1 for every 10 silver. A bar costs its ore, so a stone that gives the same points wins. An item made only by a crafting spell with a cooldown of an hour or more costs one extra unit per hour of its cooldown, so an Arcanite Bar, from a 47-hour transmute, is priced far above its reagents; that is our rule too (ADR-014 §2, note of 2026-10-10).
Frequently asked
- What is the cheapest way to level Blacksmithing in WoW: Forever?
- Craft the stones. Every ore tier has its sharpening stone, grinding stone and weightstone, made from the stone that comes out of the same veins as the ore, in Classic and, so far, in our beta play. They carry a large part of the route for far less than bars, and bars and gear fill the stretches between stone tiers.
- Do sharpening and grinding stones still give skill-ups?
- Yes. Forever's client files keep every stone recipe, and from the Coarse tier on most of them come about 25 skill earlier than in Classic. Our beta play saw the trainer teach Heavy Grinding Stone at 100. Each stone gives points for only a short stretch before it turns grey, so the route moves on quickly.
- Which stones should I keep?
- Grinding stones. Later recipes on the route take them as reagents, and the route's cards say how many to keep and for which recipe. Sharpening stones and weightstones are for your own weapons, or to sell.
- Can I level Blacksmithing past 225 in the beta?
- Not yet. The beta caps characters at level 30, and Artisan training, which lifts the cap past 225, needs level 35 in the trainer lists we have. The route past 225 comes from Forever's client files and is not checked in play; we will recheck it when the beta allows.
