The GDKP ban is NA and EU only

Taiwan’s 4Gamers published a written interview with Blizzard’s Holly Longdale, World of Warcraft: Forever’s executive producer, and Clay Stone. Asked about the GDKP ban Blizzard confirmed in its September 17 Q&A, Stone said it applies only to North America and Europe. Other regions still allow GDKP, the same policy as Season of Discovery and this year’s Anniversary Realms.

Stone also talked about gold. Anniversary Realm players had already found very efficient ways to make it, he said, but in Forever there should be no standard answer for a while, since players have yet to master its crafting and gathering. He said Forever hands out more gold than the original Classic of 2004 and 2005, and that players will notice they earn much more. The team learned from Season of Discovery how to manage a Classic economy, for example by having merchants sell some consumables directly. Black Lotus still trades on the Auction House, but because merchants sell it too, its price has a ceiling.

Why it matters: regions outside North America and Europe keep GDKP, and Blizzard says players will earn more gold in Forever than in the original Classic.
