No GDKP in Forever

Blizzard used its live Q&A on September 17 to settle one of the longest-running Classic arguments: gold-bid raids, known as GDKP, will not be allowed in World of Warcraft: Forever.

The reasoning given on stream was social. The developers said GDKP tends to spread until it crowds out ordinary guild raiding, which raises the bar for newer players and for anyone without much gold, and that players closely associate it with real-money trading. They also described it as a convenient way for bad actors to launder gold.

Alongside the ban, Blizzard said it will watch the economy actively so the game stays affordable to play, and admitted it has been too lenient with gold buyers in the past.
