On episode 3 of the WoW: Forever podcast, Senior Game Designer Josh “Aggrend” Greenfield said Blizzard has closed more than 2,100 accounts for buying gold in the Forever beta, and nearly 1,600 more for selling gold or botting. He called it a continuation of the stance Blizzard has already taken, and said the team will keep at it and improve over time.
A new warning is also coming whenever you trade with another player: a confirmation box asking “Are you sure you want to trade with this person?”, with a reminder to know where your gold comes from. Greenfield said Blizzard is getting pretty good at telling a legitimate trade, such as a tip for a portal or payment for a craft, from one built on bought gold. The warning will also come when you accept mail, and he said it is going in pretty soon. Blizzard first described a trade warning on October 1.
Why it matters: more accounts are being closed over bought gold, and Forever will soon ask you to confirm every trade and warn you when you accept mail.
