Plate looks like plate in Forever's transmog
Transmog must match your armor type. A set can hold several looks per slot and swaps by itself.

Blizzard explained a design rule for Forever’s transmog during the September 17 live Q&A: an appearance has to keep the silhouette of what is actually worn. The example given was a paladin wearing a cloth chest piece, who needs a cloth appearance to cover it.
To keep that workable, a saved set can hold more than one appearance for the same slot. If that healer paladin later equips a plate chest, the set switches to the plate appearance stored for that slot without being rebuilt.
Why it matters: collect appearances in every armor type your class can wear, because the look follows the armor type you have on.
