Onyxia joins Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit on December 9

Blizzard’s raid overview confirms that three raids open on December 9, all for level 60 characters, and that every raid is currently planned to reset weekly.

Raid	Players	Bosses	Where
The Barrow Deeps	10	8	Within Mount Hyjal, with entrances from Mount Hyjal, Winterspring and Blackmaw Hold
Hyjal Summit	20	13	The summit of Mount Hyjal, near Nordrassil
Onyxia’s Lair	40	Onyxia	Dustwallow Marsh

The Barrow Deeps is the prison that held Illidan for 10,000 years, now opened. Hyjal Summit starts with a fight against an ancient guardian, then lets the raid choose between several routes across the mountain, above and below ground.

Onyxia’s Lair is a three-phase fight with heavy fire damage, and Blizzard advises building fire resistance first. Every raider needs the Drakefire Amulet in their bags to enter, and it doesn’t need to be equipped. It comes from a faction attunement chain. Alliance players start with “Dragonkin Menace” in the Burning Steppes and Horde players with “Blood and Thunder” in the Badlands. Both chains run through Blackrock Depths or Lower Blackrock Spire, and both end in Upper Blackrock Spire, where General Drakkisath has to be killed for the Blood of the Black Dragon Champion.

Why it matters: Onyxia is on the December 9 calendar beside the two new raids, so start the attunement chain early if you want in on day one.
