Several starter-zone drops turn green in the files

Wowhead’s datamining of the newest beta build found eight Common items reclassified as Uncommon, each gaining a small stat. Some also gain armor: the Royal Frostmane Girdle goes from 69 to 73 Armor and picks up +2 Intellect, while a few, such as the Wendigo Fur Cloak, keep the armor they had. Our copy of Forever’s files agrees on the rest: between builds 1.60.1.70374 and 1.60.1.70450 all eight go from Common to Uncommon, become bind-on-equip, and gain the stat Wowhead lists.

In the 1.12 baseline, each is a drop from a named rare mob in a starting zone: in Elwynn Forest, Narg the Taskmaster (Ratty Old Belt), Thuros Lightfingers (Fingerless Gloves) and Morgaine the Sly (Lithe Boots); in Dun Morogh, Hammerspine (Ice-covered Bracers), Edan the Howler (Wendigo Fur Cloak) and Great Father Arctikus (Royal Frostmane Girdle); and in Tirisfal Glades, Lost Soul (Wispy Cloak) and Tormented Spirit (Ghostly Bracers). Only the two Tirisfal rares always drop theirs; the others drop theirs between 30% and 90% of the time.

Why it matters: killing these early rares now pays a small gearing boost, though the items can no longer be traded once worn.
