Racials reworked, and weapon specializations are gone

All nine races change. Human, Dwarf and Orc weapon skills become crit bonuses, and Troll Regeneration doubles.

The racial changes Aggrend said were coming are in the October 15 beta build. The weapon-skill racials he questioned are replaced, and the Orc active is toned down.

  • Human: Sword Specialization becomes Ruthless, 2% more critical strike chance.
  • Dwarf: Mace Specialization becomes Earth Fury, 2% more critical damage and healing. Find Treasure can also turn up extra items in most chests.
  • Orc: Axe Specialization becomes Savage, 1% more critical strike chance. Blood Fury’s cooldown rises to 3 minutes from 2. Shatter Curse now dispels Curses and Banes instead of granting immunity, and cuts magic damage taken by 5% (was 15%).
  • Tauren: Endurance trades 1% hit for 2% more critical damage and healing. Plainsrunning adds 3% mounted speed that stacks with other bonuses, but now needs you to keep moving a minimum distance each second, so stutter-stepping no longer holds it. Cultivation drops to a 15-minute cooldown (was 60) and War Stomp to 90 seconds (was 2 minutes).
  • Skyborne: Wind Blessed gives 3% haste (was 1%). Skysight and Read Leyline can be cast while moving, and Read Leyline lasts at least 30 seconds (was 20). Walk on Air’s cooldown falls to 90 seconds. Elemental Convergences and Leylines can spawn in more places in most Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor zones.
  • Undead: the notes call the racial Touch of the Grave in one line and Touch of the Dead in later ones. It procs more consistently and looks better, with a 30% chance for casters and 20% for Paladins, Rogues and Warriors, and a 25-second internal cooldown. It no longer scales with Shadow damage bonuses or loses power with lower spell ranks. Will of the Forsaken can’t be used under Scatter Shot.
  • Gnome: Eureka! is now an 8-second buff with no charges, with the same effect, and also works with Power Word: Shield.
  • Night Elf: Quickness’s movement speed now stacks with other speed bonuses.
  • Troll: Regeneration’s health regeneration bonus rises to 20% (was 10%).

Why it matters: if you picked a race for its weapon skill or for Orc’s Blood Fury, look again, since the October 15 build changes the case for almost every race.
