Beyond races and classes, the October 15 beta build adds a new tutorial for new players and refreshed in-game tutorials.

  • Interface: the unit frames and minimap header have a new look. The Auction House adds an equip-level column and shows stats on suffix items such as “of the Monkey”. Ranked spells share one entry in the Cooldown Manager, the distance at which enemy and NPC nameplates above and below you appear is adjusted to cut clutter (your target’s is unchanged), level-up messages show your stat and talent gains again, and /who finds players by subzone. Scrolling Combat Text has new options, Bloom Intensity is now a slider under Advanced graphics, and the Looking For Group list now updates for mixed-level groups.
  • Gamepad: a swing timer on the center reticle, plus gamepad support for trade, guild and communities, chat channels and the transmog frame, and fixes for quest turn-ins at objects.
  • Items: scrolls now trigger the global cooldown, many crafted items sell to vendors for less, and Draught of Predatory Senses becomes a combat potion with a shorter duration. Mystic Mushroom and the Insight enchant now add Spirit.
  • PvP and Legacy: Battleground Marks of Honor stack to 30 (was 20). Bartering no longer discounts training and repairs, and The Quick and the Dead covers more Priest spells.
  • Quests: “The Attack!” in Stormwind is no longer an escort and can be shared. “Body and Heart” in Darkshore no longer uses up your Cenarion Moondust. Lord Melenas no longer evades during “Twisted Hatred”, Mulgore’s Novice Warriors no longer flag you for PvP, and the Wetlands’ Dragonmaw, gnolls and Incendicite Ore respawn faster.

Why it matters: there’s less to work around at launch, from the Auction House to quests that used to stall.
