The October 15 beta build cuts Devouring Plague’s cooldown to 24 seconds (was 1 minute) and raises Shadow Word: Death’s to 18 seconds (was 12).

  • Shadow: Improved Fade and Shadow Infinity are removed, and Improved Mind Blast moves up to the second row. Dark Inspiration is a new fourth-row talent: Mind Blast and a fully channeled Mind Flay raise your party’s Spirit, yours included, by 3 to 15% for 10 seconds. Improved Mind Flay makes each tick of Mind Flay hit 10 or 20% harder than the last. Devouring Contagion spreads to 2 targets, and its bounced Plague no longer costs mana or resets your cooldown. Vampiric Embrace can’t be resisted and has a 30-second cooldown (was 1 minute). A bug that kept Shadow Word: Death from benefiting from Shadowform’s bonus critical damage is fixed.
  • Discipline: Mental Strength moves to the second row and raises Intellect by 2 to 10%, and Improved Power Word: Shield moves to the third. Power in Light now boosts Smite and Penance on targets with Holy Fire or Shadow Word: Pain. Twin Disciplines now correctly applies to Shadow Word: Death, Mind Flay, Starshards and Penance, Silence Resolve’s threat reduction covers all spells, and Inner Focus is spent on only one spell even when you queue a spell into Penance.
  • Fixes: a high rank of Renew no longer blocks other Priests’ Renew, rank 5 Holy Fire’s periodic damage no longer beats rank 6’s, and Mind Vision no longer stands the target up.

Why it matters: Shadow’s damage and party utility lean harder on Mind Flay and a Devouring Plague you can cast far more often.
