Addons that play the game for you don't fit Forever

Blizzard doesn't want addons that play for you. Quest XP ran too high, and endgame play should pay gold.

Clay Stone covered more than gear on the Friends Per Second podcast. Addons that effectively play the game for you, where you no longer engage with it in a meaningful way, go against why Forever is being built, he said. Forever’s encounters are far simpler than modern WoW’s, and its dungeon encounters have only two mechanics, so players shouldn’t need that kind of help.

On levelling, he said the team set the experience from quests too high and from killing monsters a little too low. Dungeons stay part of the journey, with nine at launch, but Blizzard wants players out in the world rather than repeating dungeons.

On gold, he described rewards at endgame for taking part in things players already do, so they have close to enough gold for the activities they want. How often those rewards come is still undecided, and he was wary of calling them weekly. Apart from PvP, which works much like a season, there are no plans for seasons.

Why it matters: Blizzard says quests gave too much XP next to monsters, and wants Forever’s endgame to pay gold for ordinary play.
