Asked by JackedIQ about Enhancement Shamans tanking at endgame, Blizzard’s Holly Longdale and Clay Stone said Shaman tanks are a very popular discussion among the WoW: Forever team. It is not something the team is officially pursuing at launch, they said, and there is nothing to announce today, though they recognize the desire for it.
Asked whether the game might go to places like Northrend or Pandaria, Blizzard said that, broadly speaking, nothing is off the table, without confirming either. It depends on what the team learns about players, where it wants the narrative to grow and what the best story to tell is. The original continents can change too, it said: you could spend a lifetime in the two of them as they evolve.
Stone added that Azeroth is a big place, and that the team has some really cool creative ideas for the period Forever stays in, the first year of World of Warcraft.
Why it matters: Blizzard is not officially pursuing Shaman tanks for launch, and it has not ruled out places beyond the two continents.
