Standard Definition Skyborne models due early 2027

Blizzard is building Standard Definition models for Skyborne player characters, SD Druid forms among them, and says they arrive early 2027. When it added the SD and HD toggle, it covered only the races from the original game, which left the Skyborne with no SD look. Blizzard agrees with players that HD Skyborne stand out awkwardly among SD characters and the SD world. It has shown one unfinished image of them and plans to say more nearer the date.

The post also shows reworked HD Skyborne Druid forms, one of the visuals Blizzard is revisiting because some ideas it explored fell short of the consistent look it wants. The forms are a little less soft, their fur has more detail and their color saturation has been retuned. Blizzard wants them to keep the feel of the Skyborne’s exotic homeland without clashing with the look of the world’s other creatures.

A pinned comment under Blizzard’s Skyborne video had said more on the models was coming.

Why it matters: with the SD toggle on, a Skyborne keeps its HD model, Druid forms included, until the SD one arrives early 2027.
