What each PvP rank unlocks and how to climb them

Original PvP ranks return, capped weekly, up to High Warlord or Grand Marshal. Honor buys two PvP sets.

PvP progression has two halves. Honor is a currency earned across PvP, from killing players to battlegrounds and PvP quests. Rank Points, from PvP play such as battlegrounds and PvP quests, lift you through the original ranks toward High Warlord (Horde) or Grand Marshal (Alliance), with a weekly cap on ranks. A battleground’s holiday week pays extra of both, and Honor rates were brought closer together across battlegrounds so players needn’t pick Alterac Valley just for Honor.

Honor buys a blue PvP set and an epic one. Upgrading to the epic set takes the blue piece and an Emboldened Seal, and you can buy a Seal only once you hold the rank it requires. New and reworked gear fills in specializations that lacked options: Shaman get healer, melee and caster sets.

Each rank unlocks:

Rank Reward
1 Tabard
2 PvP Trinket
3 Cloaks
4 Necklace
5 Combat Potions
6 Tabard
7 Battle Standard
8 Epic Bracers/Epic Belt Upgrade Token
9 Epic Boots Upgrade Token
10 Epic Gloves Upgrade Token
11 Mounts
12 Epic Legs/Epic Shoulders Upgrade Token
13 Epic Chest/Epic Helm Upgrade Token
14 Epic Weapons

The Player vs. Player tab of your character pane (C) shows your rank, Rank Points and what you can buy.

Each season adds a journey of weekly tasks paying Honor and Rank Points. Three a season also give a Legacy Point and, as part of the Legacy system, stay open in later seasons.

Why it matters: the weekly cap limits how fast you climb, and the epic set waits on your rank.
