The faster-leveling datamine was wrong

False alarm on faster leveling. XP to level matches Classic. The datamine read a file the game doesn't use.

Wowhead has retracted an earlier report that claimed World of Warcraft: Forever significantly reduced the experience required to level. Blizzard reached out to Wowhead directly, and the outlet now says there are no changes to the experience amounts required to level in Forever.

The mistake traced back to a data file that Wowhead’s team found through datamining but that isn’t actually used by this version of the game; a different, correctly-used file was not visible to them at the time. Blizzard clarified how the experience values are pulled for Forever, and confirmed they match existing Classic values.

Wowhead’s team, led by Blainie, has left the original post up with a correction notice rather than deleting it, and said it will review its process for verifying datamined claims before publishing.

Why it matters: if you saw the earlier report claiming faster leveling in Forever, that number was wrong — plan your leveling around Classic’s existing experience curve, not a reduced one.

Tracked on everything we know.
