Shared tagging isn't planned for Forever
Tagging stays as it is. Aggrend says fighting over quest mobs is on purpose.

Senior Game Designer Josh Greenfield, known as Aggrend, addressed complaints about mob tagging in a post on X. With the World of Warcraft: Forever beta drawing one of the biggest beta populations Blizzard has run, quest mobs are heavily contested even with the beta’s phasing technology, and some players have asked for Retail’s shared tagging, where multiple players can get credit for the same kill.
Aggrend said Blizzard has no plans to switch Forever to shared tagging. He described the friction of competing for tags as tied to the game’s social design: making things too easy removes a reason for players to interact with each other, while making them too hard makes the game less fun, and the team is deliberately keeping some of that tension.
Why it matters: if you’re used to Retail’s shared tagging, don’t expect it in Forever — contested mobs are staying part of the design.
Tracked on everything we know.
