No more surprise phase swaps
Phase changes now come with a 5-minute warning, so you can get somewhere safe first.

World of Warcraft’s layering and sharding keeps a zone’s population manageable by running several identical copies of it side by side, moving players between them as numbers change. In Forever, that forced move now comes with a warning: a notification tells players a “refresh” is about to happen and gives them five minutes to get somewhere safe, such as a road or a town, before it triggers.
Players can dismiss the notification and bring it back later from an arrow near the chat box, or click “Refresh Now” once they’re in a safe spot to trigger the change early. What’s on the other side is unpredictable either way — cleared mobs can reset, or a quiet phase can suddenly fill with other players.
Blizzard revealed the feature at BlizzCon, saying it was built with Hardcore characters in mind, since a forced phase change at the wrong moment could mean death. The option to trigger a refresh is available to all players, not just Hardcore.
Why it matters: getting caught mid-fight by a surprise phase change has been a long-standing annoyance in Classic-style WoW; this gives players control over the timing.
