Raid sizes in Forever: 10, 20, and sometimes 40

Every tier gets a 10 and a 20-player raid. 40-player raids return with Onyxia, but not every tier.

Blizzard laid out how Forever’s raiding is structured during the September 17 live Q&A. Each tier ships with both a 10-player and a 20-player raid. The aim is a gentle ladder: a dungeon group should be able to grow into a 10-player raid guild without rebuilding itself, and the developers said the 10-player raids will carry a lot of bosses.

Flexible raid sizes are not part of the launch plan, though the team said it wants to support guilds of different sizes. Dungeons and raids each have a single difficulty, and Horde and Alliance cannot play together.

Forty-player raiding returns, beginning with Onyxia’s Lair, but Blizzard said a 40-player raid will not arrive with every tier.

Why it matters: a guild can plan around 10 or 20 players for every tier and treat the 40-player raids as occasional events.

Tracked on everything we know.
