Roughly 1,000 new quests are coming
About 1,000 new quests on top of Classic's 3,000 or so, with 50 to 200 in each new zone.

At BlizzCon 2026, GameSpot interviewed Senior Game Designer Josh Greenfield and Senior Art Director Jeff Parrot about how Forever’s content is being built. They put original 2004 Classic’s quest count at roughly 3,000 to 3,500, and said Forever adds about 1,000 more. Each of the four new zones carries somewhere between 50 and 200 quests, Wetlands and Azshara received many new quests of their own, and players start meeting new content from about level 5.
The pair described the team’s approach as aiming to satisfy around 80% of what nearly everyone is asking for, drawing on social media, guild chatter and community sentiment rather than any single voice, and named Transmog and the HD/SD visual toggle as products of it. On Season of Discovery, they said it was built as a deliberately temporary experiment and much of it is unlikely to carry over into Forever.
Why it matters: by the interview’s own figures that is roughly 4,000 to 4,500 quests once old and new are combined, so leveling routes have real room to differ from a player’s last trip through Classic.
Tracked on everything we know.
