Every Forever character gets a two-part name

Forever changes how characters are named. At creation you choose a Full Name made of a Main Name and a Secondary Name. Both fields are required. Whether other players see the secondary name is up to you: it can be shown or hidden from the settings panel.

Blizzard has not yet said how uniqueness works with two parts, which is the question everyone is asking, because it decides whether a two-part system frees up the short main names that vanish in the first hour of every launch. Wowhead’s advice is to start thinking about names now, since Early Name Reservation, October 27 through November 3, is a benefit of the paid editions.

Why it matters: if uniqueness applies to the full name, name reservation becomes far less of a scramble. Until Blizzard clarifies, plan for the worst case and reserve early.
