The Legacy system: account-wide perks earned by playing, not by raiding

Forever's Legacy Challenges award one point each for exploring, leveling, tradeskills, PvP ranks, reputations and instances. Points buy passive, non-combat perks for every character on the account.

The “account-wide perks” line from the announcement now has a shape. Forever’s Legacy system sets achievement-style challenges in six categories: exploring, leveling classes, increasing tradeskills, earning PvP ranks, maximizing reputations, and completing dungeons and raids. Each completed challenge awards one Legacy point.

Points are spent in a talent-style tree of perks across three groups: Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness. The perks benefit every character on the account. Most are passive, a few are activated, and none touch combat power. Wowhead’s examples from the BlizzCon demo build include a 4 percent higher chance of tradeskill skill-ups per rank, rested experience accumulating 4 percent faster per rank, talent points starting at level 9 instead of 10, 2 percent more reputation per rank, and 6 percent less durability loss on death per rank. There appears to be a cap on how many perks can be unlocked.

A separate reward track pays out cosmetics by total points earned, whether or not those points were spent: a Replica Ironforge Air Rifle toy, a Spectral Bear Cub pet, a Spectral Bear tabard and a Spectral Bear mount were shown.

Why it matters: alts and completionists get rewarded without power creep, and the numbers come from a demo build, so expect tuning before launch.
