Protection Paladins get a taunt: the new Seal of Fury
A new Seal of Fury gives Classic-era Protection Paladins their first true taunt: Judgment of Fury, with a 10-yard range longer than Druid or Warrior taunts.

Tanking Paladins have never had a taunt in Classic-era World of Warcraft — Righteous Defense and Hand of Reckoning came later, in Burning Crusade and Wrath — and Blizzard’s Deep Dive panel closed that gap for Forever. Blizzard’s recap describes the new Seal of Fury as a tank-focused Seal that favors fast weapons, grants small absorb shields, and makes Judgment a taunt while the Seal is active. Wowhead adds that the taunt reaches 10 yards, a longer range than the taunts available to tanking Druids or Warriors.
The recap also says Seals are no longer consumed by casting Judgment, and that Protection talents build on the Seal: Improved Seal of Fury returns Mana when it absorbs damage, and Swift Judgment can reset Judgment once a minute so a missed taunt does not end the moment. Exact numbers (damage, shield size, cooldowns) are not yet published.
Why it matters: Protection Paladins have relied on threat tools instead of a taunt since Classic; a longer-range taunt, still reached through the Seal and Judgment system rather than a single-purpose button, changes how they hold aggro in a pull.
Tracked on everything we know.
